We Specify Systems, Not Products.

Project Highlight: 443 Queen Street

Work is well underway on the 443 Queen Street project in Brisbane using Baxta specified systems.

The towers of this stunning build offer a generous and welcoming public domain that creates a strong link between city streets and river edge.

This residential build represents Australia’s first subtropical-designed building, with the towers designed to catch breezes and shade from the sun.

We are excited to be supplying products from paint for interior walls, ceilings, doors and trims to exterior soffits.

Thanks to Baxta supplied systems, 443 Queen Street is a Gold Standard sustainable project, meaning the project deliver genuine emission reductions and long-term sustainable development.

The Gold Standard label is one of the most rigorous certifications standards available for carbon offset projects.

At the time of commencement on the 443 Queen Street project, Baxta was the preferred supplier for the interior systems for walls, ceilings, doors and trims.

This is because we provide products that are not only ultra-low in VOC levels, but also contain anti-mould and anti-bacterial additives.

For the interior walls, we specified a system that included one coat of Baxta Xero Advanced Sealer Undercoat followed by two coats of Baxta Xero Advanced Low Sheen.

For the ceilings, we supplied one coat of Baxta Xero Advanced Sealer and two coats of Baxta Xero Advanced Ceiling Flat.

For the doors and trims, we specified a system comprised of one coat of Baxta Xero Advanced Sealer Undercoat and two coats of Baxta Xero Advanced AcraTrim.

With regard to the exterior, the architects sought a crisp and modern design.

Baxta were able to supply a system for the soffits over off-form concrete which would give a natural off-form appearance. For the soffits, we specified two coats each of Baxta Concrete Patch and Baxta Repel respectively.

For the balcony walls, Baxta provided a unique system comprised of one coat each of Baxta Prep & Patch meshed, Baxta Polymer High Build Render and Baxta Smooth Patch.

Baxta General Manager, Bob Matthews, says the challenge then was to provide a system over the render-line substrate for the balcony walls, which would match the soffit finish.

“Baxta were the only company to provide a warranted system for this finish over this particular substrate,” Bob said.
