Developer Cbus Property and architect Woods Bagot have played a pivotal role in the transformation and revitalisation of Brisbane’s parliamentary precinct with the creation of 1 William Street.
The 43-level office tower, the city’s second largest skyscraper, is the new home of the Queensland Government and public service, with approximately 75,000sq m (NLA) including 1100sq m of retail and 318 car spaces.
When builder Brookfield Multiplex and painting contractor Usher Group were searching for a coating system to solve a problem in 1 William Street’s car park precinct, they knew where to turn for a superior system.
Baxta has earned an unrivalled reputation for delivering not only top quality paint but the expertise required when architects, builders and painters want that extra something to ensure the best finishes for their buildings.
On this occasion, the car park system needed to meet a 6-Star Green Star rating, along with a compatible translucent dye for colour identification.
Not surprisingly Baxta had just the system for them, starting with Baxta Concure, a zero VOC, environmentally friendly lithium silicate concrete floor densifier, hardener and sealer that is high tension, non-slip, non-yellowing and doesn’t flake or discolour.
This was complemented by Baxta Vivid Dye, which comes in 22 colours and is formulated using extremely fine molecules of colour designed to penetrate and colour any cementitious surfaces.
This system, which can also be found in the basement of the 40-storey 300 George Street, delivers the perfection combination as a finish for not only concrete car parks but polished concrete floors and, better still, meets ASTM C642 Standards.
Baxta’s efforts helped 1 William Street recently achieve a 6-Star Green Star Office As Built v3 certified rating.
